What we collect
lexicow has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no database. We do not collect, store, or sell personal information ourselves. You can read every page of this site without telling us anything.
Data stored on your device
The site stores a few small preferences in your browser's localStorage: your theme (light or dark), your preferred pronunciation accent (US or UK), your chosen navigation mode (alphabetical or random) and a short history of the last words you visited, used only to make the back arrow work in random mode. This data never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it completely.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on this site. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads. Google's use of advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of many third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site; their use of cookies is governed by their own privacy policies.
For more detail on how Google uses data when you use partner sites, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used — which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from (country or city level), and on what kind of device. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to tell visitors apart; we do not use this data to identify anyone, and we never sell it. You can block these cookies in your browser settings, or opt out entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Our hosting provider (Vercel) may also record standard, anonymized server logs (such as request timestamps and truncated IP addresses) for security and operational purposes.
Children's privacy
This site is an educational reference suitable for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Questions are welcome at studioincir@gmail.com.
